Once you have your professional blog set up and have followed the essential steps in the Blog by Number course, you’re ready to create content!

First Months of Blogging

Create blog posts in your niche on different topics and promote them on social media. For the post that do well, create an optin freebie on the same topic.

Promote the optin freebie inside your blog posts, on your home page and on dedicated landing pages.

Don’t be afraid to test and experiment. Different strategies work well for different niches. Write different types of blog posts to see what works for you and your readers. Embrace flexibility and be open to change directions.

Small bloggers have the benefit of switching gears quickly. Use this time to experiment and try new strategies. Once you build a large list with substantial traffic to your blog, it will be more risky to test things too much outside of the box.

What I Do

I use Convertkit to grow and manage my email list. I email my entire list weekly and have sequences set up depending on how I acquire a new subscriber. There are sequences for new visitors, advanced readers and for each of my products. When I’m running a promotion or special, I will email my list 2-3 times about the promotion and will mention it in my weekly Monday emails.
